What Are Your Favorite Resources for Lean and Agile?
Jean and I made a commitment this quarter to go deep on Lean software development. We have been working with Lean and Agile for years, and really want to engage you in a dialogue to help explore the topic of how they relate.

To help focus our research, tell us, what are your favorite resources for Lean and Agile?
I don’t want to bias your feedback too much, so here are a few of our current favorite resources as a jumping off point:
- Lean.org – Jim Womack’s site about Lean across industries
- Poppendieck.com - The Poppendieck’s site on Lean Software
- Lean Organizations to Support Agile Teams – A video article from Robin Dymond (who is also a presenter at Agile 2009)
- Making Agile Lean to Boost Business Impact – Report from Dave West and others at Forrester Research
Are there specific topics you wish we’d explore? Do you have a story about Lean and Agile that simply has to be told?

I would think discussion of Lean Manufacturing vis-a-vis Lean Development will be of broad interest.

Israel,
I see a huge difference. Lean product development is about a design process not a production process. This may seem like splitting hairs to some folks, but it seems very core to me. I worked in lean production process back in the 90’s and Lean product development is not about queuing and exception process handling, it is about amplifying learning first. Do you see it that way? Mary and Tom P had me dig into Michael Kennedy’s books and they really help set my mental models. Have you read them?
I see it the same way, Ryan. I am simply suggesting you or Jean put a full-fledged post on the subject.
Talking of Kennedy’s excellent book, how appropriate that is was given to me by a Rally employee! Like you, I highly recommend the book.
