		<description>Greg,
This topic was brought up last week as &quot;well agreed upon assumption.&quot; I think scientist believe that if we stay below a 2 degree swing the earth will keep a similar climate and without causing major changes in ocean currents. I am not sure the about the assumptions regarding the Greenland Ice Sheet? (totally melt?)

The feedback delay in temperature rise due to carbon build up is a big deal. The models that we played with showed us stopping the man-made growth of carbon in the atmosphere by 2030. According to the model that kept the temperature right at 2 degrees up in average.

Make sure to read this document on motivations on the C-LEARN site - http://forio.com/simulation/climate-development/htm/motivation.htm

Does that help?

		<description>Ryan,

Global warming is a topic of deep concern to me. And since you just had a chance to work on this topic with simulators, maybe you can answer this a burning question I have had to which I cannot find an answer.

Why is a 2 degree temperature rise acceptable. If the ice caps are melting now, if the temperature rises 2 degrees, they will eventually all melt. And then we all now the general conclusions: sea level rises, ocean circulation may change in unexpected ways with the associated climate impacts, less reflective cooling by the white surface so warming effect is amplified, etc.

What did your models show?</description>
