PhysEd @ Rally – Football. aka Soccer (take 2)
Today’s weather reminded several of the Europeans of their summertimes; fog covering the mountains and a light rain aided in increasing the speed of play. Playing 9 vs. 9 soccer on a full field also helped
.
Team 2 scored the first couple of goals and promptly began clammering (just as they did last game) that the opposing team was in for a skunking. Team 1 responded with a goal by lofting a ball over the keeper’s head and in from the corner of the 18-yard box. The teams then broke for halftime debating whether or not the goal was a shot or a cross, with the goal scorer of course claiming it was a shot.
Team 1 came close to tying the game after the break when they had a 1 (forward) vs. 1 (goalkeeper) opportunity near the top of the 18-yard box. Team 2’s keeper made a couple of saves to keep them in the lead. Team 2 then scored two more goals before “next goal ends it” was called. Team 1 promptly scored on a controversial “goalie-bobbling, forwarding-kicking” situation, forcing the teams to play for one final goal. Team 2 got this goal soon after, ending the game at 5-2.
