Grid Framework

With the 2009.5 release, Rally rolled out a new version of our grid framework to the Plan > Backlog page.

The functionality on this page will extend to additional pages throughout Rally so this will be a general overview of the new work flows.

For starters, you'll now be able to:

• drag and drop columns
• resize columns
• add or remove work product types
• increase page size to show up to 200 records
• drag and drop ranking is also still available while sorting on the Rank column

We've also included a column selector to allow you to add or remove not just the default fields, but any desired custom fields as well! The case insensitive search box will give you a quick way to find and add any needed fields and current fields are shown at the top of the list to make it easier to identify and remove them.

You will still be able to sort and filter on the majority of columns by either clicking on the column name to sort or using the drop down box to choose which values to filter on.

Importing/Exporting will still be available through the Page Tools drop down.

Now for some great new features particular to the Backlog page!

Adding stories via the will automatically place them at the bottom of the backlog.

Once created, flare messaging will provide quick links for bumping the story to the top of the backlog or adding additional details if needed.

There is now a row action drop down which can be relocated that provides the functionality that previously existed in the Actions drop down and does include a few additional options.

When using the Add Child option, the parent is removed from the backlog list and flare is provided to allow you to display the parent column.

You might notice there is no longer a multi-edit option. Now you can double click in a field and use Tab to edit the next field in the row or Enter to enter to move to edit that same column in the next row.
