Test Runs
What is a test run?
A test run is a printable view of one or more test cases and their test case steps listed in a single display. The test run view allows you to quickly run each test then add a test result or defect for each test case.
Using the test run summary page
Use the test run page from the user story detail page to run acceptance or functional tests. When a test case is added to a user story it is also added to the test run. The test run also displays all test cases that are associated to child stories.
Use the test run page from test folders and test sets to run regression tests. Test folders and test sets are collections of test cases that are available with the Rally Quality Manager module
- Run a test case by completing the steps displayed in the test case.
- Record a test case result by clicking the
icon. - Record a defect by clicking the
icon. This will automatically associate the defect with the test case. - Edit the details of the test case by clicking the edit
icon.
- Print a complete test run of all test cases and their steps. Click the
button then Print menu option. - Assess your test case status by using the colored information boxes at the top of the page.
- The passing
box displays the percentage of all test cases (including child user stories) that are passing. Hover your mouse over this indicator to display a list of test cases that are not passing. The failing tests display contains a hyperlinked list of test cases that have any Verdict other than Pass. Click any of the test cases to navigate to the test case detail page. 
- The covered
box indicates the percentage of test case coverage that is present for the displayed user story and its related children. Hover your mouse over the covered indicator to display a listing of user stories that do not have an associated test case. Click any of the user story links directly from the stories not covered display to navigate to the user story detail page.
- The passing
To access the test run summary from test folders:
- Click the Quality tab then click Test Plans or
- Click the Run
icon on the test folder you want to run.
To access the test run summary from test sets:
- Click the Track tab then click Iteration Status or Release Status.
- Click the test
icon to display the Iteration Test Status page. - Click the Run icon on the test set you want to run.
When accessing test run through test folders and test sets, steps 1-5 are the same for using the test run page. The status at the top of the page is different.
The test folder/test set status bar 
rolls up the test results of the test cases in the folder as well as results in child folders.
Hover your mouse over the status bar to display details.
- Green = passing test cases
- Red = failing test cases
- Yellow = all other test case result verdicts not passing or failing (For example, inconclusive, error or custom values.)
- White = not run
