New Enhancements From Rally Software Help Agile Enterprises Deliver on Greater Demands for Continuous Quality

Rally Quality Manager pulls testing forward to provide a single source of information for software quality

BOULDER, Colo., June 3, 2008 - As the demands on organizations to deliver high quality software faster continue to increase, Rally Software Development Corp.®, the #1 partner for Agile success through its family of products, coaching and community support, today announced enhancements to Rally Quality Manager that help enterprises pull testing forward and provide teams with a single source of information for software quality throughout the development lifecycle.

Organizations that have adopted Agile practices often struggle to smoothly integrate software quality management into the development process. Rally Quality Manager, an optional module to Rally's core Agile lifecycle management solution, enables Agile teams to continuously track testing throughout the development lifecycle by surfacing test results out of test automation tool silos and into Rally's central hub of development information. Rally enables the entire team - not just testing managers - to improve team communication, cut schedule risks and track feature readiness from a single dashboard.

"Agile practices emphasize the value of continuous quality throughout the development process, but integrated testing is often the final obstacle that prevents teams from reaping the major benefits of agility," said Zach Nies, Rally's VP of Products. "To remove this block, Rally helps pull testing forward into the development lifecycle making it easier to predict project completion, balance resources and reinforce Agile testing practices."

The latest release of Rally Quality Manager provides organizations with the ability to:

  • Manage test coverage across all concurrent projects and schedules
  • Easily define and run a group of tests using test folders
  • Power acceptance testing by creating test cases directly from requirements
  • Give the entire team access to failing tests for improved communication, easier defect re-creation and faster resolution
  • Assess feature quality and release readiness by pulling automation testing into dashboards
  • Record a full test result history to monitor feature or system quality trends
  • Eliminate waste by building project workflows between Rally and HP Quality Center
