Rally Software Announces Agile Lifecycle Management For Microsoft Visual Studio Team System

Joint webinar demonstrates improved development visibility, collaboration and productivity in Agile teams

Boulder, CO - June 23, 2008 - Rally Software Development Corp.® today announced support for Microsoft Visual Studio Team System to drive improved development visibility, collaboration and productivity in Agile teams. Rally will demonstrate this functionality during a webinar on Wednesday June 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

As teams adopt Agile practices, the faster pace of iterative development requires enhanced project visibility and team collaboration. To meet this need, Rally and Microsoft Corp. have each developed sets of tools for project planning and development that support the increased velocity of Agile teams. By leveraging connectors between Rally's Agile project management solution and Visual Studio Team System 2005 and 2008, all team members gain real-time visibility across source code assets and build results through a connection into Rally's collaborative Agile planning dashboards.

"This connection between Rally's lightweight Agile lifecycle management solution and Visual Studio Team System brings new value to the specific needs of Agile teams by providing real-time visibility to the entire team with every new code check-in or build failure," said Ajoy Krishnamoorthy, senior product manager for Microsoft Visual Studio Team System at Microsoft Corp. "Microsoft's and Rally's solutions will help Agile teams further accelerate the delivery of quality software releases."

The Rally Connector for Visual Studio Team System provides:

  • Instant access to view and update Rally stories and tasks without leaving the context of the Visual Studio IDE.
  • Easy traceability between Microsoft Team Foundation Server source code check-ins and tasks and defects in Rally so teams can gauge progress against work products.
  • A seamless linkage between the results of the latest Microsoft Team Build results and the Rally project dashboard to deliver a key indicator of code health and quality.

"Our support for traditional application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions like Microsoft's help drive incremental and successful Agile adoption for organizations of all sizes," said Ryan Martens, Rally's founder and CTO. "This addition is yet another step toward our vision of offering an 'integration hub' where large enterprises can quickly and easily blend legacy tools with their incremental adoption of Agile practices to minimize risk and ensure their organizations implement agility in a pragmatic and successful manner."
