RALLY Delivers New 'Rally Release 3' for On-Demand Agile Software Development Management
Industry's first on-demand Web service for managing Agile software development upgrades customers to new reporting and multi-project management features, and now offers 'Get Started Pricing'
BOULDER, Colo., August 16, 2004 - Rally Software Development, a provider of on-demand software development management solutions, today announced Rally Release 3, an important advancement of its on-demand Web service for managing all aspects of Agile and iterative software development. Rally Release 3 can scale Agile development for large or distributed organizations with new features for managing and tracking multiple projects across teams and products. In addition, it delivers improved reporting of project metrics and easier test and defect management. Rally also announced its new Get Started Pricing program that offers a five-person annual subscription for just $1,495.
Rally is the first on-demand Web service for managing all aspects of Agile software development. The secure, subscription-based service helps in-house, distributed and outsourced teams more efficiently define, develop and deliver software releases. It provides an entirely new level of visibility into product features, quality and project status so organizations can quickly respond to changing demands and new priorities. Rally combines comprehensive Agile project management capabilities for rapid software iterations and releases with integrated workflow for requirements, test cases and defect tracking to dramatically improve team communication and productivity.
"With our recent success, we've added an outsourced development team with responsibility for a key subsystem," said Peter Behrens, vice president engineering for Roving Planet, Inc. "They have a different schedule than our in-house group, even though we share some requirements. Rally's new features play a critical role in planning our iterations and coordinating everyone's tasks so we can be sure we hit our milestones with a high-quality system."
The development and availability of Rally Release 3 comes just over two months after the company's initial launch, demonstrating Rally's own commitment to develop and deliver significant customer-driven enhancements on a frequent basis. Major new features of Rally Release 3 include:
- Managing Multiple Projects - Rally Release 3 can define and track multiple release and iteration schedules against the same rich repository. Companies can now coordinate the activities of multiple teams that must integrate their separate work products into a common release.
- Reporting on Release Readiness and Productivity - Rally Release 3 now provides time-based reporting for a variety of "burn-up" or cumulative flow charts that help measure release readiness, development capacity and overall productivity.
- Easier Test Execution and Enhanced Defect Management - Rally Release 3 adds Agile testing and defect management on a per iteration, release or story card basis to better mirror how teams perform quality assurance in iterative development.
- Get Started Pricing Program - Rally Release 3 includes a new pricing plan that enables a single project team to get started with Rally quickly and at low cost. For an annual fee of $1,495, up to five software developers or managers have complete access to Rally for a single project.
"The ability to rapidly execute iterations and releases delivers solid bottom-line benefits to companies and their customers," said Tim Miller, CEO for Rally. "But, scaling many Agile practices beyond small, co-located teams becomes a major roadblock to improved competitiveness. Rally addresses the scalability issue head-on, allowing software organizations to coordinate the efforts of multiple projects across teams and geographies, with a low-burden, secure Web-based application."
Pricing and Availability
Rally Release 3 is available September 12, 2004. The company offers a free trial to qualified software organizations. After the trial period, per-user pricing starts at $65-per-month. Special Get Started Pricing provides a one-year subscription up to a maximum of five people and a single project for $1,495.
