What's New in Release 2008.1
Integration Connectors
Rally's integration connectors to popular open source and commercial tools make it easy for you to extend your existing enterprise tooling investments, reduce implementation costs and seamlessly unify technical and role-based silos into a collaborative Agile dashboard.
- The Rally Connector for Visual Studio allows you to view and update your Rally stories and tasks within your IDE, greatly reducing the barrier for technical team members to view and update their Rally tasks.
- The Rally Connector for Seapine TestTrack Pro allows you to update defects logged within TestTrack Pro and synchronize them with Rally to track the entire lifecycle of your requirements.
- The Rally Connector for IBM ClearQuest establishes bi-directional communication between defects in ClearQuest and Rally to provide visibility into status and quality in both systems.
- The Rally Support Connector for Salesforce.com has been enhanced to create release announcements faster and to maintain the Salesforce Customer Portal up to date with development status at a click of a button.
Drag & Drop Ranking
Rally's intuitive drag & drop ranking capability allows team members to quickly rank user stories, defects and defect suites with a few mouse clicks. Use drag & drop ranking to make meeting preparation and project prioritization more efficient.
- Use drag & drop ranking in place of the decimal ranking feature to save time organizing a backlog
- Choose manual ranking to prioritize items using your preferred numbering scheme
- Maintaining a ranked backlog helps team members understand your project's priorities
Task Ordering
Rally's intuitive drag & drop capability allows team members to re-order tasks under user stories and defects. This is helpful to indicate the order in which tasks should be done to complete the respective story or defect.
Defect Suite Rollup Status
The defect suite page now provides a summary of the number of open and closed defects for each suite, allowing team members to quickly assess project health and identify roadblocks.
- Expand the defect suite summary to review full defect priorities and details
- Clearly show team members which defect fixes must be included in the product patch by organizing them into a defect suite
Visibility into Scope Creep
The release burndown chart now provides additional information to help team leaders identify and correct risks to their project earlier in the development cycle.
- A visible line keeps track of committed scope making it obvious when a team member changes scope by adding a user story or by increasing an estimate
- The release chart automatically stores historical data when it becomes available
Personalized Instant Messaging to Team Members
Rally's integration with popular Instant Messaging (IM) applications fosters instant team collaboration to drive stories, tasks, defects or tests to completion.
- Simply hover over the owner name to initiate a chat session
- Make a better connection with your remote team members by adding your picture to your Rally profile
Enterprise Administration Control
Expanded revision history allows Rally administrators to gain complete traceability over user permissions and subscription changes.
Acceptance Test Authoring and Tracking
Track your test cases in your iteration side by side with tasks and defects. Your Enterprise subscription now includes the ability to define customized test cases and results and trace them back to committed user stories.
- Test cases are customizable with user, build, steps and history
- Test results are actionable and can generate defects
- Test run view allows QA managers to see test coverage for parent and child stories, even if they are scheduled in separate iterations
Shorter Learning Curve
The Getting Started link has been replaced by an extensive Help & Training interface that provides highly searchable documentation and training materials to help users quickly find answers as they learn how to use Rally.
Greater Security to Better Protect your Data
Enterprises can continue to rely on Rally to protect their company data with market-leading security safeguards.
- Enterprise Password Complexity - Rally administrators can further protect their company’s data in Rally by setting their own requirements for user password length and complexity.
High Performance for Large, Globally Distributed Teams
Rally continues to keep our on-demand platform a step ahead of the competition with additional measures to deliver enterprise-class performance and to keep up with customers' expanded Agile teams, outsourcing and stored data needs.
- Rally now has international web caches which enhance performance and page loading for teams located across the globe
- The platform is also equipped with continuous performance monitoring to ensure that Rally is meeting or exceeding performance benchmarks with every product enhancement or change
