From materials to drugs to software, companies are relentlessly driving the cost of change out of product development processes to foster true innovation. Agile Project Management (APM) is designed to help software teams better manage new projects where risky technologies are incorporated; requirements are volatile and evolve; time-to-market is critical; and, high quality must be maintained. APM can severely challenge traditional "production" oriented project management practices that attempt to optimize, predict paths and conform to detail plans.

Some of the Agile Project Management principles Highsmith will present include:

  • Moving from a "production" to an "exploration" software culture
  • How APM principles and practices deliver improvements in Agile
  • Determining product vision and project scope
  • Developing a feature-based release, milestone and iteration plan
  • Delivering tested features
  • Reviewing delivered results and adapting to changing requirements
  • Concluding the development project

This free online presentation is part of the "The Road to Agile" Webinar series hosted by Rally Software Development. The Webinars provide teams with practical tips and techniques for adopting Agile practices that help their companies win more business by increasing software development agility, responsiveness and productivity. Through live interaction with the presenters, Webinar attendees also have the unique opportunity to get feedback and advice on their own Agile development efforts.
