This is an exciting time for Rally and for those looking for an ALM platform.
What is an ALM platform you ask? Application Lifecycle Management or ALM is the category title that Forrester Research, Inc., Gartner, IDC and other analysts use to describe the space that Rally competes in. It includes software requirements, project management, code management, and quality management – all of the pieces that make up the lifecycle of software as well as complex systems development and delivery.
The ALM market is changing. This year Forrester expanded the analysis to include both development and delivery; Agile and non-Agile; systems engineering and embedded software.
In the report, The Forrester Wave™: Application Life-Cycle Management, Q4 2012, Forrester emphasizes the rising importance of ALM: “Increasingly, firms now expect to manage application development and delivery as a business and treat it as a competency.”
And, “Firms can no longer accept historical gulfs between business and application development and delivery teams.”
And most importantly, “We treat Agile and Lean as critical tests of an ALM vendor’s offerings.”
We couldn’t agree more.
Forrester researched, analyzed, and scored 9 ALM providers against 116 criteria. In other words – they did all the evaluation work for you. And they said some pretty cool stuff.
But don’t take my word for it. Read the report and judge for yourself.
